What Are Rat Glue Traps

Rat glue traps are one of the many rodent control methods available on the market today for eliminating these pesky critters.  Despite their size, rats are among the most destructive to your property.  With the right knowledge and tools you will be able to remove the problem rather quickly, and a rat glue trap is a great way to get started.

Rodents enter your home through any small crack or hole in search of food and shelter from their outside predators. They will feed on just about anything in their path.  This includes any garbage, furniture, paper, electrical wiring, the kitchen pantry, and pet food.  Although they generally stay out of sight and travel along the walls, and behind large furniture and appliances, they will make their presence known.  Evidence that you are dealing with such a rodent will be in the form of scurrying sounds at night, fecal droppings, nesting materials, and shed fur along their well traveled paths.  If that is not enough, they are potential carriers of a variety of dangerous diseases that can be transmitted through their droppings, or bites to your pets and family members. It is crucial to deal with an infestation as soon as it has been identified to ensure that the damage and possible risks are kept to a minimum.

There are many do it yourself rodent control techniques available, and a reputable pest control company can assist you in selecting the most appropriate kinds for you specific needs.  Baits and repellants are good options when you are unsure of where they are coming and going. They will be enticed to feed on it, and once ingested will die.  Snares come in a variety of styles, including basic snap traps and rat glue traps, as well as the more humane cage snares used for catch and release.  When using the latter of these options, make sure they are released far enough away from your property that they will not be able to return.

A rat glue trap is a more affordable snare that can be used both indoors and out.  They are constructed of a strip of strong adhesive that has been applied to a paper or board.  It is sticky enough that it will hold the rodent in place for you to then dispose of outside and away from your property.  Some rodents may struggle and die quickly, so it is important to monitor these snares regularly for prompt removal. They should be placed along regularly traveled paths to ensure better results. The adhesive itself is not chemical in nature and will not soil or stain your floor.  That alone makes this option a little more appealing, and is a sanitary approach to rodent control. They come in a variety of sizes depending on the rodent you are up against. A larger size would be capable of ensnaring more than one rodent at a time, which is quite useful in the case of a more extensive infestation.

Rat glue traps are easy to use, and when placed correctly, they can be extremely successful in detaining the rodents at that site. In eliminating their chance to wander about and die, you can continue to place these traps one by one until the problem has been eradicated.
