How to terminate fleas

So, your friend Fido (or Buster, or Whiskers...) has been appearing a little itchy lately, and there seem to be things jumping in your carpet as you walk through the room?  It sounds like it's time for you to take a look at how to terminate fleas.  Fleas are a very persistent pest, and your cat or dog's blood is very attractive to them (yours too, sometimes, they're not too picky).  Maybe your flea prevention steps didn't work, or maybe you never took steps to prevent the fleas in the first place.  Well, now you've got to deal with them, or spend the rest of your days dealing with the itching and scratching and wading through the flea infestation.  Not to mention your poor pet could get all sorts of diseases, on top of being utterly miserable.

Now it's time to figure out how to terminate fleas.  There are indoor and outdoor flea treatments, and pet treatments as well.  If you can get your yard taken care of, that can have a great impact on taking care of any fleas in the house.  If you can control the fleas in your yard, you'll have a decidedly easier time trying to control the fleas in your house.  If you get any fleas in your house taken care of, it's all for naught if your yard isn't under control, because your outdoor or indoor/outdoor pets will just be re-infested in the yard.  If you can get your neighbors in on the planning for how to terminate fleas, all the better.

Some options for treating your yard include diatomaceous earth and cedar chips.  Either option should help repel the termites.  Planting the herb tansy may also be a helpful ally in the fight against fleas.

If you're looking for other options in the plan of how to terminate fleas, you may want to turn to a professional for help with the treatment.  They already have the know-how for the treatment necessary for how to terminate fleas, and will be already prepared to take them on when you call them in.  Be sure when you treat the lawn, you don't allow your pet back into the lawn until it is safe to do so.

If you're doing it yourself, be sure to treat the outside and the inside as soon as you start treatment, for the best chance of good results against the fleas.  You can try sprinkling borax or salt in the house on the carpets, and letting it sit before vacuuming.  You may choose a mixture of equal parts borax and diatomaceous earth.  Be extra cautious to keep children away from the borax treatments before vacuuming, or choose an option besides borax if you have children in the house.  In order to keep the fleas off of you, you may choose to rub garlic on your skin.  You may be stinky, but supposedly it will keep the fleas away from you!

Hopefully, armed with these suggestions, you now know all you need to know for how to terminate fleas.

========

If you haven't been using flea prevention tips and tricks, or they haven't been working for you, you may need some ideas for how to terminate fleas, instead.  You certainly don't want to be itching and scratching forever, and your pet could be miserable with fleas, or even get diseases from them.  Now you need to decide how you're going to treat the little pests.  You're going to want to do a comprehensive treatment, including the interior and exterior of your home, and your pet as well, if you want a good chance of getting the flea infestation under control.  There's nearly no point in treating just the inside of the house, as that will leave the fleas in your yard available to re-infest your home and pet again.  Some of the options for how to terminate fleas include sprinkling salt or borax on the carpets, and then vacuuming after letting it sit.  You can also treat with equal parts diatomaceous earth and borax.  You should be sure not to let your pet out after the yard is treated until after it is safe to do so.  Garlic, while stinky, may be a help in keeping the pests off of you.
